The characteristic shade of blue was especially developed for the Dutch tax authority to make its letters stand out among people’s mail. It draws people’s attention and lets them know that this is one letter that they absolutely should leave unopened for long!

Did you know that the blue paper was especially developed for the Dutch tax authority and is made out of waste paper?

All paper shreds that are left over after we manufacture our envelopes and printed materials are sucked up with a vacuum pump across a 8,000-m² surface area and then recycled into the base material for producing the Dutch tax authority’s blue paper.
